Dennis election: With only one race, Terrio reelected to a fourth term on Select Board

DENNIS — In the only contested race on the annual town election ballot, John Terrio was reelected to the Select Board for a fourth term.

Four candidates ran for three Select Board seats in Tuesday's annual town election.

In a race to fill an unexpired one-year term, Terrio won against former longtime Select Board member Wayne Bergeron.

Terrio secured the seat with 1,194 votes; with Bergeron trailing behind with 950 votes.

Incumbent Paul McCormick and Carlyn Carey ran for two seats carrying three-year terms. McCormick won a seat with 1,430 votes; as did Carey with 1,330 votes.

Marilyn Bemis won a three-year seat on the School Committee with 1,699 votes; Maureen Linehan was elected to a five-year term on the Housing Authority with 1,682 votes; Paul Prue won a three-year term as the Water District Commissioner with 1,777 votes and Nathan Salley was elected to a four-year term on the Old Kings Highway Regional District Commissioner with 1,138 votes.

Among a total of 12,877 eligible voters in the town of Dennis, 2,183 voters cast ballots in Tuesday’s election. The voter turnout this year was 16.95%.
