(WJW) — Former Democratic U.S. representative and Cleveland mayor Dennis Kucinich on Wednesday filed to run for Congress again.

He intends to challenge Republican U.S. Rep. Max Miller of Rocky River for Ohio’s Seventh Congressional District seat. He’ll be running as an independent.

Kucinich, 77, served in the U.S. House from 1997 to 2012, until he was defeated in a primary challenge from sitting Ninth Congressional District U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur.

The former Cleveland mayor also ran for president in 2004 and 2008. He also had failed bids for Ohio governor in 2018 and, most recently, for Cleveland mayor in 2021.
