Dennis shines as Enfield baseball holds off South Windsor

May 26—Ryan Dennis may have been the number nine hitter for the Enfield High baseball team Wednesday, but his contributions proved to be significant.

The sophomore hit a double, drove in two runs and scored another to help lead the host Eagles to a 6-4 win over South Windsor in CCC East play.

It's the fourth win in a row for the Eagles, who finish the regular season 12-8. Enfield will have a road game to start the Class LL state tournament, which begins Tuesday afternoon.

The hosts jumped out to an early 6-0 lead thanks a single run in the first, three in the second and two in the fourth.

South Windsor (3-17) scored four times in the fifth to cut it to 6-4, but wasn't able to keep the momentum going.

Anthony Noke had two hits and an RBI in the win while Tighe Thebodeau had an RBI and a run scored. Brandon Rowe scored twice.

Reid Vacharakupt earned the win, pitching two innings of one hit ball in relief of starter Bryce DiPiero. Christopher Seile picked up the save, striking out two in an inning.

Drew Mabey went 4-for-4 with a run scored for South Windsor. Jaden Glatt added an RBI. Sam Pines took the loss.

RHAM 18, HARTFORD PUB./HMTCA 0. Brad D'Amico had two doubles, four RBIs and two runs scored as the visiting Raptors won a five-inning CCC interdivisional game.

The Raptors have won four of their last five games following a three-game losing streak.

D'Amico was also the winning pitcher, allowing a hit and striking out four in 2Î innings. Patrick Miller and Mike Poncini each had two hits in the win. Poncini, Ethan Polochanin, Camden McPeck and Max Nylen all had two RBIs in the in.

Landon Bell, Sean Connolly and Garrett Nicol combined to throw 2Ï innings of hitless relief.

RHAM finishes the regular season 15-5 and will host a Class L first round game Tuesday.
