- Denver Fire Department had to make a water rescue yesterday. This time it was all over a lost skateboard. Neighborhood kids at Wash Park were skating near Smith Lake and their board fell in. The kids started getting ready to jump in and rescue it, when the firefighters stopped and decided to go in instead. Now they were warned that the freezing temperatures could actually be dangerous and they reminded the kids to always stay at least six feet away from the water's edge.
