Denver Neighborhoods With Highest Coronavirus Case Rates

DENVER — More than 53,000 people have been infected with the coronavirus in Denver since the outbreak began, according to public health data. As of Monday, the death toll had reached 716.

Denver neighborhoods with the highest case rates per 1,000 people — Jan. 3 to Jan. 9:

Northeast Denver

  • Denver International Airport: 8.1; 14 total cases

  • Gateway - Green Valley Ranch: 4.0; 177 total cases

  • Montbello: 4.1; 139 total cases

Central Denver

  1. Civic Center: 20.9; 59 total cases

  2. Lincoln Park: 5.9; 21 total cases

  3. City Park: 4.0; 14 total cases

Southwest Denver

  1. Mar Lee: 4.2; 58 total cases

On Jan. 4, Gov. Jared Polis moved all Level Red counties — including Denver — to Level Orange on Colorado's COVID-19 Dial. Among other changes, Denver restaurants can now offer indoor dining at 25 percent capacity or 50 people, whichever is fewer.

Some medical centers in Denver are allowing residents ages 70 and older to make appointments to receive their COVID-19 vaccine. More information can be found here by scrolling down to the City and County of Denver.


Between Sunday afternoon and Monday afternoon, 860 new coronavirus cases were reported in our state, according to data posted by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Around 35 percent of Colorado's critical care ventilators were in use as of Monday, and 16 percent of hospitals reported anticipating intensive care unit bed shortages over the next week.
