Denver weather: Windy start to the week followed by cool temperatures, showers

​​​​​DENVER (KDVR) — A strong storm system passing north of Colorado on Monday blasted the Front Range and Denver weather with wind gusts of 50-80 mph early in the day.

According to Pinpoint Weather, Colorado’s Most Accurate Forecast, the same storm system will keep the wind blowing on Tuesday. However, the speeds will be much lower through the day with 15-25 mph wind at times, not up to 80 mph.

Weather tonight: Not as windy

Wind speeds will continue to relax with the setting sun. There will be a few snow showers in the Colorado mountains with light accumulation overnight.

Skies will clear across eastern Colorado and metro Denver. It will be cold in the mountains with below-freezing temperatures and a chilly night along the Front Range with mid- to upper 30s forecast.

Weather tomorrow: Breezy to windy and cool

There will be some additional snow showers in the Colorado mountains on Tuesday with light accumulation again. The region will have mainly sunny skies in metro Denver with just a few passing late-day clouds.

It will be a cool day with afternoon highs in the low 60s along the Front Range. The warmest temperatures will be in the southeast with readings in the 70s-80s.

Looking ahead: Few showers and thunderstorms

The forecast calls for a few rain showers on Thursday into early Friday. Temperatures will be cooler on Thursday with afternoon readings in the upper 50s for metro Denver. The cool temperatures stick around through the end of the workweek.

Temperatures will warm back into the low to mid-70s over the weekend and into early next week. There will be scattered showers and thunderstorms each afternoon.
