Deputies: Car chase suspect hit by sheriff’s cruiser

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) —  A suspect who was running from deputies after a car chase was hit by a sheriff’s office vehicle and another suspect was arrested, deputies say.

Kent County sheriff’s deputies tried to pull over a vehicle they believed was stolen and connected to several crimes in the county. The vehicle did not stop and led deputies on a “brief” chase, according to the sheriff’s office.

The vehicle ran off the road on Division Avenue near 32nd Street and crashed into parked cars that were unoccupied, deputies said. Two people got out of the vehicle as it continued to drive and ran away on foot.

A deputy cruiser hit one of the suspects running away and caused serious injuries, according to the sheriff’s office. That person was taken to the hospital. The other person who fled the vehicle was apprehended, deputies said.

Michigan State Police will help investigate, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office said.
