Deputies: Parole compliance check yields drugs, arrests

PAW PAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Van Buren County deputies say several people were arrested during a parole compliance check at a transitional housing facility.

Around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, deputies, detectives from the narcotics unit and Michigan Department of Corrections agents conducted a compliance check at the Kalamazoo Probation Enhancement Program/Red Arrow Motel in Paw Paw Township, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.

Everyone from room one to room 14 was asked to exit their rooms to be searched as part of their parole conditions, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies say three people were found with methamphetamine, two were found with ammunition for a firearm and one was found with psychedelic mushrooms. There were also other violations, though deputies did not specify the nature of these violations.

In all, seven people were arrested and taken to the county jail, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies say there was another person visiting, who was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and possession of meth.

A K-9 helped search the rooms and find narcotics, according to the sheriff’s office.
