Deputies save kidnapped Tennessee woman screaming for help in 18-wheeler, SC cops say

A man accused of kidnapping a Tennessee woman was arrested in South Carolina on Tuesday, officials say.

The Florence County Sheriff’s Office had been told by the FBI in Memphis that the man might be in the area in a semitruck with the woman he’s accused of kidnapping, WBTW reports.

Deputies spent all night patrolling the area and eventually found the 18-wheeler at a truck stop, Chief Deputy Glen Kirby told WPDE.

The driver tried to “blend in” with the other cars, but deputies were able to get the suspect out and arrest him, WMBF reported.

Deputies then heard a woman yelling for help inside the truck, WPDE reports. They got her out of the truck and she was transported to an area hospital.

The sheriff’s office impounded the semitruck, WBTW reports.

No other information, including the suspect’s name, has been released.
