Deputies: Stolen car was disguised with spray paint

PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) — Deputies said they caught a wanted man driving a stolen car that had been disguised with spray paint.

A Lake County sheriff’s deputy on patrol Tuesday spotted the blue vehicle headed east on state Route 2 and tried to pull it over for an equipment violation, according to a Wednesday Facebook post.

As the deputy followed, looking to make the traffic stop, the car got off at state Route 535.

The driver, later identified as Bradley M. Hody, 27, of Rock Creek, reportedly pushed the car past two other cars stopped at the intersection, damaging both of them.

Hody’s car continued into a field before becoming disabled by damage. He then fled on foot and hid behind the nearby Ohio E-Check location along North Ridge Road, according to the post.

He was soon apprehended by another deputy nearby and transported to a nearby hospital for possible injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

Investigators learned the car was stolen from Ashtabula County. It was originally painted red, but it was spray-painted blue as a disguise, according to the post. Its license plates had also been changed.

  • Resisting arrest

  • Operating a vehicle while under the influence
