Apr. 12—ODON — Police are still looking for a man involved in a traffic accident with a Daviess County Sheriff's deputy that wound up sending the deputy to the hospital.

Authorities said they received a report of some people in a Ford Explorer acting belligerent and possibly drunk at the Chuckles in Odon early Friday morning. Deputy Troy Fuhs was dispatched to respond to the complaint and then his vehicle was reportedly struck by the vehicle he had been called to check on.

Indiana State Police are handling the accident investigation that happened on the southside of Odon at the intersection of CR 1100 N. and CR 900 E.

Police say the driver of the 2017 Ford Explorer fled the scene on foot. Two passengers in the vehicle remained at the scene and were detained.

Fuhs was taken to the Daviess Community Hospital where he was treated and later released.

"He came out of it with a black eye," said Daviess County Sheriff Gary Allison. "We were pretty fortunate with that one."

Troopers are releasing no more details on the crash while the investigation is still underway and the search for the driver continues.
