A Hocking County sheriff's deputy and a Logan Police Department K-9 officer are both expected to recover after being injured Sunday night while responding to a report of a domestic dispute.

Around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, deputies were called to a home on Bremen Road near State Route 93 in Logan after a fight was reported inside a home. Deputies who got to the home said a woman and a child came out of the house but another child and a male were still inside.

During the incident, multiple shots were reported to have been fired from the home, grazing a deputy and striking a K-9 officer. Multiple cruisers that were on the scene were also damaged by gunfire.

The man inside eventually surrendered to law enforcement after more than an hour and a half. The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Steven Hardbarger and is expected to appear in Hocking Municipal Court Monday afternoon on charges of kidnapping and felonious assault.

The deputy, Jason Miles, was taken to Hocking Valley Community hospital with non-life threatening injuries. In a joint release, the sheriff's office and Logan police said Miles was grazed after a bullet struck his radio that was on his hip.

Rambo, a K-9 with Logan police, was taken to Ohio State University's Veterinary Medical Center. The release said Rambo had been inside a cruiser at the time he was struck. The cruiser had been hit by gunfire and the bullet hit Rambo in the face. The Ohio Highway Patrol's aviation unit flew Rambo from the scene to the veterinary hospital.

Both Miles and Rambo have been released from the hospitals where they were treated and are expected to make full recoveries.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation.
