Deputy kills dog after Concord teen is viciously attacked: Sheriff

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A teenager suffered severe injuries after being attacked by three dogs, one of which was then killed by deputies that responded to the scene, the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

Deputies responded to calls regarding the dog attack Thursday at a home on Lower Rocky River Road.

An initial investigation stated an 18-year-old young man was attacked by three dogs outside his home causing severe injuries including blood on his head. The teen was transported to an area medical center to be evaluated, the sheriff’s office confirmed.

The mother of the victim, who was at home at the time of the incident, could be heard saying on the 911 call that was released by the sheriff’s office that there is a kennel nearby where the attack occurred, however, deputies do not believe the dog came from there.

When deputies arrived on scene, one of the dogs charged a deputy and was shot and killed. A second mastiff dog involved in the attack was located, however, a third pit bull dog has not been located and animal control is out Friday continuing to search for the dog, the sheriff’s office told QCN. The dog killed was a Rottweiler, the dog secured was a mastiff, and the dog that is still on the loose is a pit bull, Animal Control said.

Animal Control, EMS, first responders, and the sheriff’s office were among the departments that responded to the scene.
