Oleksandr Kubrakov, the Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine’s recovery, unveiled some of the secrets behind Ukraine’s military logistics since the start of the full-scale war with Russia in an interview with NV on July 14.

Kubrakov said that Ukraine began constructing the entire new military logistics system “from the third day of the war” after the closure of its airspace.

“Prior to the war, our partners delivered everything we needed to Ukraine via airplanes, primarily to Boryspil and other airports.”

“However, after the war broke out, the main hub shifted to the Polish city of Jasionka, with additional hubs emerging throughout Ukraine,” Kubrakov said.

He highlighted that the logistics system relies on two primary modes of transportation: trucks, which play a central role, and railways.

Kubrakov emphasized that approximately 95% to 99% of the truck movement, both inbound and outbound, is facilitated and funded by the private sector. “Big businesses, small businesses, banks, IT companies, fuel companies, agricultural companies, and construction companies finance our military logistics system,” he said.

Since the third day of the war, various entities, including civil organizations, have been transparently supporting and overseeing the military logistics system in Ukraine, Kubrakov said, adding that these entities are committed to continuing their efforts until the war concludes.

“And all of this continues, and everyone is ready to do it until the end of the war. Allof this is happening transparently. There are civil organizations; everything is under control,” he said.

Kubrakov also recounted how he inadvertently joined the pressure on partners regarding the provision of cluster ammunition to Ukraine.

“There was the Munich Conference. As a civilian, I don’t have the same restrictions as military ministers or personnel might have,” he said.

“I genuinely don’t understand why Russia is using cluster munitions on our territory while we’re not allowed to use them on our own land.”

“I am aware of the conventions and risks involved, but it’s important to note that it is our land they are occupying,” Kubrakov said.

“In order to defend ourselves and regain control, we need access to these munitions to achieve some level of parity.

”The White House announced the United States’ decision to supply cluster ammunition to Ukraine, specifically M864 artillery projectiles for 155 mm howitzers.

Some of the ammunition has already arrived in Ukraine.
