Derek Stingley Jr is ‘very questionable’ to play against Mississippi St

The hits just keep on coming. This time it happens at the cornerback position. On Thursday, head coach Ed Orgeron stated that junior cornerback Derek Stingley Jr is ‘very questionable’ to play on Saturday.

During fall camp, Stingley missed time due to a “camp” injury and it appears that he has reaggravated the injury. Or perhaps it is a re-injury of the same injury. Regardless, the team will be without their best cornerback in Stingley. Dwight McGlothern, who recently returned to the team will have to step up.

Jay Ward converted from cornerback to safety will also go back to cornerback to help the secondary in this game. The injury comes at a really unfortunate time as they are facing the No. 1 passing offense in the SEC on Saturday afternoon

This year Stingley has recorded eight tackles with one forced fumble and no interceptions. Looks like that defense will be tested on Saturday with no Andre Anthony and now no Stingley Jr.

The Tigers lose a veteran voice in the huddle as they try to slow down Mike Leach’s air raid attack.
