DeSantis appoints 4 to State College of Florida Manatee–Sarasota District Board of Trustees

Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed four new members to the State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota District Board of Trustees.

In a press release sent Friday, the governor's office announced the appointment of Jaymie Carter, Tracy Knight, Ryan Moore and Rod Thomson to the board. The appointments are still subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate, which is controlled by Republicans.

Thomson is involved in media relations for the Republican Party of Sarasota County. He is the owner of the Thomson Group public relations company and worked in journalism for over 25 years.

Division: Divisive public comment continues following Sarasota School Board elections

Carter, a Manatee Realtor, serves on the board of the Women’s Resource Center of Manatee Board of Directors and the Liberty Foundation of Manatee, according to the release. She attended State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota.

Moore, the CEO of UMR Sports, a sports complex in Lakewood Ranch, also attended State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota. He also served on the Board of Employee Leasing Companies for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, according to the release.

Knight is a member of the Venice Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County. She is also the vice president and owner of Knight Strategic Communications.
