Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix to close early after extreme heat warning

The Desert Botanical Garden announced Friday that its garden will close early at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, and Sunday, July 16, due to the extreme heat advisory, according to the Desert Botanical Garden's Twitter account.

The garden also stated that the extreme heat advisory will also cancel the garden event's Flashlight Nights and Sonoran Sippin' for the remaining week, the social media account said.

The Phoenix-area excessive heat warning will be in place through Wednesday, July 19. Phoenix also is expected to have the highest temperatures registered for this weekend's dates.

The garden will also be closed from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday, July 17, to Tuesday, July 18, due to the extreme heat, according to the garden's Instagram account. Staff members also noted this is not the first time they have had to close the garden due to extreme heat.
