All the Design Events Happening This April

April will coincide with some of the year’s most important art and design fairs, taking place everywhere from Dallas to Paris. From Salone del Mobile and PAD Paris to High Point Market, these are the events you’ll want to add to your calendar.

Moscow International Furniture Show

When: April 3–6

Where: Moscow

This four-day trade show will take place concurrently with BATIMAT, Russia’s major construction and interior trade fair. Exhibitors are mostly Russian, but international designers are represented as well.

SP-Arte

When: April 3–7

Where: São Paulo

This annual fair, which takes place at the Oscar Niemeyer Pavilion in Ibirapuera Park, boasts the largest number of exhibitors of any fair in South America and has a dedicated design sector. Plus, it is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.

PAD Paris

When: April 3–7

Where: Paris

PAD, an art fair with editions in London, Geneva, and Monaco in addition to Paris, will return to the City of Light with a highly curated showcase of modern art, historic and contemporary design, and jewelry. This iteration will feature a wide variety of primarily French exhibitors.

Art Paris

When: April 4–7

Where: Paris

The 21st edition of this international art fair will gather 150 galleries from 20 different countries to showcase their best work at the Grand Palais. There will be several special sections, including one on female artists in France and another focused on Latin American art. Young galleries and emerging artists will also be highlighted.

Design Icons

When: April 6–7

Where: Amsterdam

For one weekend, you’ll be able to find countless vintage treasures in a former marine engine factory in Amsterdam, where 75 European dealers will showcase design pieces from the 1930s through the 1980s. Expect vintage examples of Charles and Ray Eames and Mies van der Rohe furniture next to items by lesser-known designers.

High Point Market

When: April 6–10

Where: High Point, North Carolina

A favorite of AD editors and industry professionals, High Point Market claims to be the world’s largest home furnishings event. In addition to visiting showrooms, attendees of the spring market can go to keynote talks and networking events, or join one of the market’s style spotters for a trend tour.

Salone del Mobile

When: April 9–14

Where: Milan

The 58th edition of the most anticipated furniture fair of the year will draw over 370,000 visitors to Milan to see the latest and greatest works by established and emerging designers. The show at the Milan fairgrounds is the focal point for Milan Design Week and the largest and most prominent design fair of its kind.

Dallas Art Fair

When: April 11–14

Where: Dallas

A range of local and international galleries—including New York’s Perrotin and CANADA—will show at the Dallas Art Fair, which is located in the midcentury Fashion Industry Gallery in the Dallas Arts District.

Art Monte-Carlo

When: April 26–28

Where: Monaco

The sister show to Art Genève, this art fair is patronized by Prince Albert II of Monaco and is sure to attract the region’s many collectors. New this year, the fair will bring design into the fold by partnering with PAD (the Pavilion of Arts and Design).

Art Beijing

When: April 26–29

Where: Beijing

As China’s art scene continues to ramp up, attending the Art Beijing fair is a great way to discover up-and-coming Chinese artists. A special design pavilion at the fair will spotlight contemporary Chinese design.
