The Chicago design community is always buzzing. From events happening around town to news coverage that can’t be missed, there’s a lot to keep track of in the Windy City. In this weekly news roundup, AD PRO has everything you need to know.

A New Series on Commercial Interior Design
AIA Chicago, IIDA, and the Commercial Interior Design Association are partnering for the first time to present a series of discussions on commercial interior architecture and design. The talks, dubbed “Design and Its Impact on Client Success,” include three panel discussions. One will focus on the influence companies have on a city, another will highlight design firms in Chicago, and another will discuss women leading hospitality design in the region. The event will take place Wednesday, March 20, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the IIDA headquarters on East Wacker Drive. Tickets are available now.

Lee & Associates Hires Brent De Noble
Real estate firm Lee & Associates recently welcomed Brent De Noble to the firm. He will serve as vice president and be responsible for expanding the company's growth in the O’Hare and DuPage markets. Previously a business owner in the tech sector, De Noble will help strengthen the firm’s industrial real estate work.

Michael Menn Wins Award
Michael Menn, principal of suburban Chicago architectural firm Michael Menn Ltd., has been selected as an honoree of the 29th annual Awards for Business Excellence. The awards committee honored the firm for its approach to client relationships. “When providing our professional services to clients, we adhere to a strict policy of transparency. Clients are kept abreast of all issues and expenses upfront. We also offer new clients the opportunity to speak with our past and current clients,” said Menn in a statement. Menn and 22 other award recipients will be recognized at Northern Illinois University on March 28.

Architecture Projects Come to the Loop
Irvine Company Office Property has signed five new leases for more than 100,000 square feet at the One North Wacker tower, an HGA-designed building that recently received LEED platinum certification. The 50-story structure is known for innovative workspaces and on-site amenities.

Nearby, JK Equities announced plans for its first building in West Loop, across from Skinner Park. The company behind the 1000M skyscraper, soon to open in South Loop, will build a seven-story, 42-unit condo building catering to millennials who want to own rather than rent. The condos will be designed by Chicago architecture firm Booth Hansen and New York's Mojo Stumer Architects. Construction will begin in the second half of 2019.
