Designer-to-be Courtney Love's best fashion moments

Rocker and grunge icon Courtney Love is set to make her own mark on the fashion industry by joining forces with retailer Nasty Gal on a new "killer collaboration," it has been revealed. The project is shrouded in secrecy for the moment, but if the musician's bold personal style is anything to go by, this will be one of the fashion highlights of 2016. We take a look at some of her best fashion moments through the years.

On the red carpet at the 57th Golden Globe Awards, Love showed off her gift for blending grunge and glamour -- a combination that would become her signature look. This slashed, off-the-shoulder spaghetti strap dress was transformed into formal wear thanks to its lavish glittery feathered adornment, while the glowing skin, dripping jewels and blood-red lipstick gave a classic beauty to the overall effect. The choppy bob and bold turquoise nails kept things edgy.

Love was on the slashed-to-the-navel trend long before it became standard red carpet attire. At Elton John AIDS Foundation's eighth annual benefit, she looked polished, sophisticated, and just a little undone, thanks to the tumbling curls and shaggy fringe.

Even draped over Karl Lagerfeld on the French Riviera, Love managed to ooze her particular brand of rocky sex appeal. The oversized bow on this revealing halterneck dress added a playful, Victorian element to her ensemble, while leaving plenty of skin exposed to show off her arm tattoos. The makeup was classically pretty but the tousled hair kept the look from becoming too girly.

The same trip to Cannes saw this lesson in how to perfect free-spirited Hollywood glamour. By teaming an oyster pink silk dress with Grecian-style flats and opting to leave her bra at home, Love proved that classically beautiful dressing doesn't have to be predictable. As usual, the look was epitomized by deliberately messed-up hair, providing a welcome antidote to the picture-perfect coiffed styles sported by the majority of celebrities.

Pictured on stage for the Philippe Plein Spring/Summer 2016 fashion show in Milan this year, Love demonstrated how to rock a grungy outfit with class. Her distressed jeans, low-slung belt and basic black vest might scream casual, but her unusually neat hair and pretty yet understated makeup kept things in balance.
