Designer Renee Bishop Of Deity New York, Is Inspired By Her Travels For Her SS23 Collection, Shown At NYFW

When asked to describe her brand Deity New York’s newest collection, Renee Bishop used the words whimsical, bold, and dynamic.

Those are the feelings we got after attending the Deity New York Spring/Summer 2023 NYFW show this month. California-born, NYC-based designer Renee Bishop showed her collection at Moonlight Studios in Manhattan. The fashion industry excitedly took in the confident, feminine pieces detailed with lace, silk, and beaded fringe.

This collection is “designed for the unapologetic and bold woman who dares to challenge tradition to express her innate beauty in the process to find herself.” The women of Manhattan were the inspiration behind Deity New York’s SS23 collection.

We had a chance to speak with Renee about how travel inspires her design process and what we can expect from Deity New York in the near future.

TN: How did New York inspire you when starting Deity New York?

RB: Oh, this city is constantly inspiring me and my designs. The people and energy here are so exciting and always evolving and new while always remaining true to the classics, which is what our brand stands for — classic silhouettes with bold cuts and vibrant fabrics. 

TN: Which pieces from the Deity New York SS23 collection are you looking forward to wearing on your next vacation?

RB: The charmeuse chain tied gown and our denim chain jacket and set! Also, our ribbed mono wire gown! I can’t wait to wear it. We are going comfortable, yet chic for this SS23 season. 

TN: Does travel inspire your collections or design process?

RB: Absolutely! Being the world traveler that I am, I am constantly inspired by the streets and people I see when I visit different countries and cities. When I travel, I enjoy feeling comfort and ease more than when I am at home. I take all of those experiences into account when I design for each season. 

TN: What can we expect from Deity New York in the near future?

RB: We will continue to bring out the divine nature in every woman, and stay true to our classic silhouettes that dare to challenge tradition. You will see us in more retail stores and on more celebrities.
