What Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit said about Bo Nix starting for Oregon vs. Georgia

The College Gameday hosts discussed a few opinions on Bo Nix starting for Oregon as the Ducks open the college football season against Georgia on Saturday.

Desmond Howard mentioned Nix's transfer from Auburn to Oregon football, and discussed his statistics from his leadership with the Tigers. The senior quarterback doesn't have a strong record against the Bulldog, having an 0-3 record with two touchdowns and three turnovers in three seasons at Auburn.

Kirk Herbstreit and Rece Davis also discussed how Nix is adapting to his new offense and offered some predictions on how he'll fare throughout the season. The crew referenced his record against ranked opponents during his career with the Tigers, explaining that Nix is 6-11 against ranked opponents in his career, and 15-2 vs. unranked teams.

Nix is starting at quarterback during Oregon's season opener against Georgia. The Chick-Fil-A Kickoff game, hosted at Mercedez-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. Each College Gameday host, including guest Jack Harlow, all selected the Bulldogs to defeat the Ducks.

Nix transferred to Oregon following the 2021-22 college football season. He suffered a broken ankle that prematurely ended his season in November, then decided to enter the transfer portal in December. He finished last season with 197 completions, 2,294 passing yards with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions.
