Despite high WA state gas prices, many stations in Pierce County have deals. Here’s a map

Compared to the rest of the U.S., Washingtonians have been hit especially hard with higher-than-average gas prices. According to AAA, the national average price for gas is around $3.66 per gallon of regular-grade gas as of mid April. For drivers in Tacoma, this would be a steal.

AAA finds that the average price of gas in Pierce County is $4.51 per gallon, which is higher than Washington’s overall median cost of around $4.44. In January, the state’s average cost per gallon was $3.84. The automobile association’s estimates show that Pierce County has the second-highest average price of gas in the state, just behind King County at $4.68.

But as gas prices continue to rise in 2023, many retailers in Pierce County are offering gas by the gallon below the state’s average. Fuel economy website GasBuddy provides information on locations selling cheap gas. Drivers can also download the GasBuddy application on their smartphone to search for affordable gas in their region.
