Dessert Week offers a tour of Corbin's sweetest treats

Sep. 28—CORBIN — Next week will launch a sweet opportunity for Corbin.

The community can visit a total of nine locations participating in the 2nd annual Dessert Week. Each restaurant is offering one special $6 dessert that showcases each local spot's confectionary favorites.

Maggy Monhollen, Corbin's Tourism and Convention Commission Executive Director, decided last year's dessert week was too much of a success to pass up the opportunity this year to showcase the delicious desserts created by local cuisine experts.

"The Tourism Commission dubbed 2023 as the "Year of Food." We wanted to showcase our restaurants with a total of four food events this year, and Dessert Week was one of those," Monhollen said. "The nature of the dishes during this week also allowed us to bring back a standardized price point of $6, which people really like."

Put on your walking shoes and take a dessert tour of Corbin next week. You will have plenty of options including:

Bubby's BBQ

—Bubby's BBQ will be offering Barnyard Skillet Brownies. The ooooey, gooey, decadent chocolate fudge brownie is served warm in a skillet — a southern treat like most of their menu.

Depot on Main

—Depot on Main will be the stop for cake lovers with an Italian Cream Cake, made up of three layers of wonderfully moist cake loaded with toasted pecans and coconut. The layers are filled and frosted with a light whipped cream frosting and topped off with pecan bits and even more coconut.

Si Señor

—Si Señor will be offering a Mexican flair to a dessert standard. Deep-fried Cheesecake Chimichangas have a creamy cheesecake filling stuffed into a tortilla. The entire treat is rolled in cinnamon sugar for a rich and delicious dessert.

Old Town Grill

—Old Town Grill will be showcasing the flavors of Fall with Caramel Apple Trifles made with granny smith apples, caramel, cinnamon and whip cream.

Sante Fe Mexican Restauraunt

—Sante Fe Mexican Restauraunt will also be adding some Mexican flair to the dessert lineup. The Churro Donut combines two popular desserts and packs the result full of delicious cinnamon. Unlike traditional donuts and churros, they are baked instead of fried.

Folktale Coffee and Bakehouse

—Folktale Coffee and Bakehouse will also be whipping up some Fall-inspired flavors. Their Smoked Caramel Apple Shortbread Tart blends smoked apples and gooey caramel, served in a flaky homemade shortbread tart. Likely, this will pair well with a cup of hot coffee.

Sweeties Ice Cream

—Sweeties Ice Cream will be serving up a unique charcuterie board that features all things sweet. One scoop of Fat Elvis, This Just Got Serious and Zanibar (or choose you own flavors), served with fresh sliced strawberries, pineapples and bananas, rainbow sprinkles and chopped nuts served in a bowl with whipped cream throughout the board topped with four cherries. On top of all this goodness, it can be topped off with chocolate sauce if you'd like. Bring your friends or date along to share this sweet experience.

Mi Casa #3

—Mi Casa #3 will also be bringing a sweet spin to the churro dessert. Fried Ice Cream with a Churro offers a scoop of ice cream coated in batter and deep-fried until crisp. It's deliciously hot and cold and complimented with a cinnamon- and sugar-topped fried pastry dough stick with Spanish and Portuguese origins.

M & M Rooftop Garden

—M & M Rooftop Garden is also helping spread the flavors of Fall to Corbin. A Salted Caramel Mini Tart with Spiced Apple Cider contains an intensely rich and indulgent caramel filling that's encased in a sweet, buttery tart crust and topped with a few sprinkles of sea salt.
