Destination Hilliard: Spreading word about community is top priority

As the weather warms and spring flowers bloom, the city of Hilliard is bustling and Destination Hilliard is ramping up for an exciting year of showcasing the best this community has to offer to visitors – and our own residents.

Destination Hilliard is this community’s tourist marketing agency.

Its marketing efforts support local businesses that benefit from tourism and serve as an important economic driver for Hilliard. By helping to put heads in hotel beds, diners in restaurants, shoppers in retail stores and guests at local events, Destination Hilliard brings money into the community and promotes the creation of hospitality industry jobs.

That’s where I come in, and I could not be more excited to be a part of Destination Hilliard’s vision for the future.

I recently was hired as Destination Hilliard's tourism marketing coordinator. I’m a Hilliard native and a Hilliard High School graduate. My husband, David, and I are parents of a Hilliard Bradley graduate and three other children who are students in the Hilliard City School District.

I love this community, and I’m thrilled to have the chance to help celebrate everything it has to offer, from new dining options and a year-round Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) to special events.

“Everyone’s hometown” offers exciting options for locals and visitors alike, and I get to tell the world about it. How cool is that?

One of my first projects is to welcome you – Hilliard’s residents – to join me on this journey and to help share our community’s stories.

Destination Hilliard has three social-media platforms to get updates on local event venues, restaurant happenings, entertainment, new shopping opportunities, and other things to do in the community. By following Destination Hilliard and sharing our posts on your social-media platforms – Facebook (@DestinationHilliard), Instagram (@destinationhilliard), and Twitter (@desthilliard) – you can help bring visitors to our city and support local businesses!

You should also visit the Destination Hilliard website (destinationhilliard.org), which always has the latest information, including the answer to the question, “Where do we want to go to dinner?”

Destination Hilliard also is working to develop some exciting new events and attractions in the city.

I’m incredibly excited about this chance to share my passion for the community. Hilliard has been more than my home. It’s been a community that has shaped me into the person and professional I am today.

My love for this city is strong. I can’t wait to help others see this city through my lens, and I hope you’ll join me for the journey.
