Destroyed and without a roof: the occupiers announce the opening of 16 schools in Mariupol by 1 September

Mykhailo Zahorodnii – TUESDAY, 30 AUGUST, 2022

According to the local Russian-appointed puppet governor, 16 schools are to be opened by 1 September in occupied Mariupol.

They would be operational after repair, but some of them remain in a ruined state.

Meanwhile, the Russian occupiers are providing varying information and it suggests lies, says Petro Andriushchenko, adviser to the mayor of Mariupol.

"He (Pushilin) claims that only 16 buildings will be repaired in the autumn. And if we believe ‘Gauleiter’ Ivashchenko, there are at least 40 such buildings (16 schools, 16 institutions of secondary and special education, 3 hospitals and some offices). So, demonstrably, the picture is a ‘lie’," says Andriushchenko.

In addition, Andryushchenko says that at least 4 of the announced schools are partially or completely destroyed, and one of the educational institutions has no roof.

"At least 4 of the announced schools are at the ‘bare wall’ stage: (schools number) 27; 38; 53; and 64. Moreover, school 38 does not even have a roof. Literally," says the deputy mayor.

Andryushchenko also said that the occupiers will try to force children into destroyed schools for propaganda purposes.

It will be recalled that earlier the occupiers announced "lessons" in schools in Mariupol, where children will be taught to "love the Russian Federation".
