The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office released new details on events that led to a shooting at a house party in Rimrock Saturday evening. The two people shot dead were identified as 27-year-olds Rafael Zapata and Efrain Arreola.

Authorities have released new details on the events that led to a shooting at a house party in a small town in northern Arizona Saturday evening, which killed two people and injured another.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said that they received multiple calls with reports of a shooting at a home near Top O the Morning Drive in Rimrock just before 11 p.m.

Authorities said when they arrived, they found two people fatally shot, later identified as 27-year-old Rafael Zapata from Camp Verde and 27-year-old Efrain Arreola from Rimrock. According to the YCSO, another person sustained minor injuries from a gunshot wound and was identified as 22-year-old Rimrock resident Edgar Arreola.

Police said Edgar Arreola claimed he had been in an argument with Zapata and that Zapata initially tried to fight several people at the party before he was asked to leave. Police said that according to Edgar Arreola, Zapata didn't leave and began shooting at people, fatally striking Efrain Arreola and causing Edgar Arreola to shoot at and kill Zapata with his Glock 9mm pistol.

On Saturday, Edgar Arreola was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail on charges of first degree murder in the fatal shooting of Zapata, according to police.

According to a recent update from the YCSO, he was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center without incident.

"At this point in the investigation after interviewing witnesses at the scene and gathering evidence there was probable cause to charge Edgar with First-Degree murder," YSCO said in a media release.
