A man allegedly shot and killed his brother inside a parked vehicle in the Lytle Creek area, San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials.

Around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Fontana first responders were called to an assault with a weapon incident at Dignity Health Urgent Care on Sierra Lakes Parkway in Fontana.

Authorities said Tyler Monfort, 20, of Jurupa Valley, was found seated inside a parked vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at the medical facility, sheriff’s officials reported.

Detectives with the sheriff’s specialized investigations division and homicide detail started an investigation.

Tyler Monfort and his brother, Christian Joshua Monfort, 21, of Jurupa Valley, and a friend drove to an off-road trail in Lytle Creek, according to detectives. As the trio sat in the vehicle, Christian Monfort allegedly fired his gun, striking Tyler Monfort.

The friend drove to the urgent care in Fontana, sheriff’s officials stated. When they arrived at the medical facility, Christian Monfort fled from the vehicle on foot, authorities said.

Christian Monfort was later found at a nearby business, with the gun in his possession. It was also discovered that he had threatened an employee of another nearby business with the firearm, sheriff’s officials said.

Christian Monfort was arrested on suspicion of murder, according to the sheriff’s department.

He was booked at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. He is ineligible for bail.
