Marion County Sheriff's detectives need assistance in identifying a gunman who they were told forcibly took a car from a boy at gunpoint.

The incident occurred in front of the Pizza Hut at 9264 SE Maricamp Road around 9:30 p.m.on Wednesday.

Deputies said a woman, who drove a vehicle to the location, got out and left her son in the vehicle.

An armed individual approached the vehicle, pointed a gun at the boy and demanded the vehicle. The boy got out of the vehicle and the gunman got in and left.

The boy's mother called 911 and reported the incident, and deputies searched for the vehicle and found it the next day along the side of a roadway.

Sheriff's Office officials released pictures of the reported gunman and they're hoping someone would recognize the person and call them.
