The Detroit Lions are getting some help for their still-shorthanded secondary in time for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Lions activated cornerback Mike Ford and running back Bo Scarbrough from injured reserve Saturday, and released cornerback Chris Jones and guard Kenny Wiggins.

Ford and Scarbrough returned to practice last week, and both are eligible to play Sunday.

The Lions still are without two of their top cornerbacks, Justin Coleman and Desmond Trufant. Coleman will miss his fifth straight game with a hamstring, but returned to practice from IR on Thursday. Trufant also is dealing with a nagging hamstring injury.

Both could play when the Lions return home to face the Indianapolis Colts next week.

Scarbrough ran for 377 yards in six games last season and will serve as the Lions' No. 4 running back behind D'Andre Swift, Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson.

Ford has made six starts the last two seasons while playing primarily on special teams.

The Lions ruled special teams ace Miles Killebrew out for Sunday's game for personal reasons not related to COVID-19.

The Lions also elevated practice squad tight end Isaac Nauta to the 53-man roster for Sunday's game, per new COVID-related gameday roster rules, re-signed Beau Benzschawel and Arryn Siposs to the practice squad and released Dalyn Dawkins and Matt Sokol from the practice squad.
