Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff is NFC Offensive Player of the Week after big day vs. Vikings

Jared Goff's big week netted him a big honor.

Goff was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday after leading the Detroit Lions to a last-second win over the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field.

Goff threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns in the victory, the Lions' first of the season, and led the offense on a 14-play, 80-yard drive that covered the final 1 minute, 50 seconds.

The Lions won, 29-27, on Goff's 11-yard touchdown pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown as time expired.

"I don’t know if it matters how far you are in (to your career)," Goff said after the game. "When you win a game and you’re able to play the way we did in the first half and then finish the game the way we did it, that’ll build confidence for anyone, and myself included and our whole offense."

Goff has had a rough season since coming to the Lions as part of a January trade with the Los Angeles Rams.

He is averaging 234.2 passing yards per game, his lowest total since his rookie season, and ranks last in the NFL at 4 air yards per completion.

The Lions (1-10-1) have the worst record in the league, are trending toward having the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft and must consider quarterback replacements this offseason.

Goff, who last won Offensive Player of the Week honors in Week 13 of the 2019 season with the Rams, had the second-most passing yards and touchdowns among NFC quarterbacks last week.

He is the first Lion to win Offensive Player of the Week since Calvin Johnson in 2015. Matt Prater won NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for the Lions twice last season.
