Detroit Mercy's Antoine Davis wins college 3-point shootout right before Final Four

If this was indeed Antoine Davis' final time wearing a "Detroit" uniform, he went out a champion.

Davis, the Detroit Mercy star who came up three points short of becoming the NCAA's all-time leading scorer, showed 3-pointers remain a specialty after he won the men's side of the College Slam 3-Point Contest, which is the NCAA's version of NBA All-Star Saturday Night, on Thursday night in Houston, home of this year's Final Four.

The fifth-year senior, who was named Horizon League Player of the Year for the second time in early March, made 19 of 25 shots to make the semifinals, 15 of 25 to reach the finals and won the title by making 18 of 25, topping Missouri's D'Moi Hodge.

Davis wasn't as fortunate in the man vs. woman championship round, falling to Iona's Kate Mager, 21-19.

It follows that Davis would win this competition, because along with being the all-time leading scorer in UDM and Horizon League history, he also holds the record for most 3-pointers made in a Division I college career. He averaged 4.08 made 3s per game, the third-best rate in NCAA history.
