The Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox postponed Wednesday's game, scheduled for 1:10 p.m., because of rain at Comerica Park in Detroit.

Rainfall began Tuesday evening and didn't show signs of letting up throughout Wednesday.

The third matchup in the three-game series has been rescheduled for Monday at 1 p.m., as both the Tigers and White Sox were slated for off days. The Tigers don't play again until facing the Kansas City Royals at 7:10 p.m. Friday at Comerica Park.

In Monday's series opener, Harold Castro delivered a crucial eighth-inning single to push the Tigers to a 4-3 victory over the White Sox. They came out on top again Tuesday, 5-3, to secure the series win behind 16 hits and six multi-hit performances.

But the Tigers (74-78) will wait until Monday to go for the sweep against the American League Central leaders. Despite being eliminated from the postseason, the Tigers sit one game back of Cleveland, the AL Central's second-place team.

The pitching plan for the upcoming series with the Royals: Casey Mize on Friday, Tarik Skubal on Saturday and Wily Peralta on Sunday. (Mize was supposed to start Wednesday's clash against the White Sox.)

Detroit has nine wins in its past 12 games.
