Last week, the members of the Detroit Youth Choir were lavished with praise by the judges of NBC's “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars.”

After the group sang a rousing version of Panic! At the Disco’s “Hey Look Ma, I Made It,” judge Heidi Klum raved, “This is by far the best choir I have ever seen.”

Judge Simon Cowell went a step further. “You know what I was thinking when I was watching it? ... They should be booked on the Super Bowl.”

Well, there is always 2024 for that dream to come true, but the choral youth group’s hopes of winning “AGT: All-Stars” ended Monday night when DYC failed to advance to the top five finalists.

At the conclusion of the two-hour finale episode, host Terry Crews revealed that a panel of “AGT” superfans had chosen self-taught aerialist Aidan Bryant as the winner.

It was a bittersweet ending for Detroit Youth Choir, which finished in second place in 2019 on season 14 of "America's Got Talent" and won the hearts of viewers across the country.

DYC was among the 60 acts — all former winners or viewer favorites — that competed on the “AGT: All-Stars” spin-off of the NBC reality competition. The Motor City choir started the season strong with an electric performance of “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons in early January that combined singing, rapping and choreographed moves.

As he did back in 2019, host Terry Crews awarded the Golden Buzzer to the group for that performance. That made them one of the 11 groups who landed in the “AGT: All-Stars” finals.

During Monday night’s finale, DYC had the chance to join Weezer in a performance of the rock band’s 2005 hit “Beverly Hills.” Weezer will be bringing its new Indie Rock Road Trip tour to Pine Knob in Clarkston on June 18.

"It was absolutely brilliant," said Cowell afterward.

Although the Detroit Youth Choir didn't take home the top prize on "AGT: All-Stars," that isn't slowing down the group's schedule.

Coming soon is  the six-episode Disney+ docuseries “Choir,” which will follow DYC’s artistic director Anthony White and his young singers and staff as they get ready to perform at Manhattan’s Carnegie Hall.

And on March 19, DYC will appear in concert March 19 at Orchestra Hall. The event also will feature LaChanze, the actress and singer who earned a Tony in 2006 for her performance in the original Broadway production of “The Color Purple”

The Detroit Office of Arts, Culture and Entrepreneurship is partnering with DYC on the event, while the Skillman Foundation and the Detroit Pistons are providing support. All proceeds will go toward supporting the choir. Tickets ranging from $35 to $100 for VIP and box seating are available at EventBrite.

The show is expected to include numbers sung by DYC on “AGT" like the Imagine Dragons hit “Thunder," along with tunes from Broadway shows "Hamilton," "The Color Purple" and "The Lion King," along with some Motown hits and gospel songs.
