Sure, being a sex worker on 42nd St. during the 1970s was tough — but so is life as a modern-day actress.

Emily Meade, who starred as doomed prostitute Lori Madison on HBO’s “The Deuce,” says she hasn’t been able to land a gig since the drama series ended two years ago.

The 32-year-old actress posted a photo of herself on Instagram Wednesday, captioning it, “Me pretending that I didn’t just get rejected for yet another job after not working for two years. About to retire, lmk if y’all know of anyone who would like to cast me in something that I somehow don’t know about. Otherwise I’mma go back to school and be a detective.”

In a second snap of herself sitting on a bed, she added, “Also wondering if anyone knows, am I blacklisted or something? Lmk if you have any leads.”

Meade has also appeared in other shows over the years, including “Boardwalk Empire,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “The Leftovers” and “Broad City.” And her movie credits include “That Awkward Moment,” “Money Monster” and “Nerve.”

But indeed, her profile on IMDb — an online database of celebrity film and TV projects — shows that she has no future titles lined up.

The comments on her recent posts were filled with supportive messages from fans, some attributing the slump to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis that froze filming for a while. “Hang in there lady,” one fan wrote. “The last 2 years have been crazy. It will all happen for you.”

Meade’s character Lori is introduced in the very first episode of “The Deuce,” when she arrives in Manhattan from Minnesota and quickly becomes involved with a pimp.

Throughout the show’s three seasons, Lori rises from a street sex worker to an adult film actress, even managing to leave New York and move to L.A.

But the character struggles to successfully leave her past, and her drug addiction, behind, and she eventually returns to prostitution and the Big Apple, where she tragically takes her own life in a shocking Season 3 scene.
