Devastating Aftermath of Hurricane Ida Seen in Grand Isle

The scale of the task facing recovery teams in Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Ida was clearly illustrated in video released via the Louisiana State Urban Search and Rescue Task Force showing scenes from Grand Isle on August 31.

The hurricane was carrying winds of up 145 mph when it made landfall on Sunday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Dangerous storm surges and heavy rainfall led to widespread flooding, while powerful winds caused damage to structures and left more than a million without power. At least six deaths have been attributed to the storm.
