Developers buy former Volvo showroom on Gold Star Blvd., plan new retail building

WORCESTER – The former location of Volvo Cars at 70 Gold Star Blvd. changed hands Tuesday, with a Boston real estate developer purchasing the property for $3.625 million.

The site is being remade into a plaza, with a Kelly's Roast Beef restaurant among the planned tenants.

Parkingway Management LLC acquired the 2.01-acre land from Gallo Realty Co. Inc., which had owned the property since 1988. According to public records, the land was assessed this year at $1,285,600.

Volvo Cars moved out of the 22,000-square-foot retail building last October. The business is now in Auburn, where it is known as Volvo Cars Auburn, a retailer of Patrick Motor Group.

In a previous interview, one of the principals at Parkingway revealed plans that include demolition of an existing building and the construction of an 18,100-square-foot retail building, with space for multiple tenants.

A ConvenientMD Urgent Care clinic, a Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurant and a Kelly’s Roast Beef restaurant will lease three of the spaces.

The plaza has a tentative opening date in late 2023 or early 2024.
