Dewey Beach black-tie gala just one of many red-hot events at beaches this week

While inflation may be pinching consumers’ wallets right now, people are still spending their money to beat the wintertime blues. Several upcoming music and comedy events have sold out in advance.

In Dewey Beach, tickets are long gone for one of that town’s biggest annual events. The sold-out Dewey Beach Winter Gala takes place Saturday, Jan. 28. at The Hyatt complex’s Lighthouse Cove Event Center.

The large crowd will be all gussied up for the black-tie gala, for which tickets were priced at $95. Music will be provided by The Reagan Years, DJ Manny Mann and the Blue Cat Blues Band.

In Ocean View, the Dickens Parlour Theatre has a special event scheduled in conjunction with the town’s sixth annual Fire & Ice Festival this weekend. It will present Judy’s Road to Oz at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27-28 ($52, $32). The story of the Wizard of Oz will be told by New York City vocalist-actress Ruby Rakos, along with author John Fricke and pianist David Libby.

In Ocean City, the Seacrets complex is closed this week to give its employees their annual winter breather. It will reopen at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2 — and also has several upcoming events that will pack the house in February and March.

For starters, tickets sold out in less than a week for its Laugh at Love Comedy Showcase, which is set for Saturday, Feb. 11. Comedians will include Keith Purnell, Christian McCartney, Brian Isley, Daniel MacFarland Jr. and more.

Seacrets has also announced the lineup of its eighth annual Irie-Ish Music Fest, which will be held after the town’s St. Patrick’s Day parade Saturday, March 11. No advance tickets will be sold; admission will be first come, first served.

The schedule consists of the Jimi Milligan Band (noon), John McNutt’s Keltic Rock Warriors (1 p.m.), Turning the Tide (4:30 p.m.), Kono Nation (5 p.m.), Element K (5:30 p.m.), The Way Outs (9 p.m.) and The Benderz (10 p.m.).

Back in coastal Sussex County, tickets have been selling like hotcakes for this week’s shows at the Milton Theatre. Things kick off at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26 with the return of Dueling Pianos with Flying Ivories (with a few tickets remaining at $24).

Classic-rock tribute The Launch will pay homage to the FM radio staples of Styx, Queen and especially the band Boston during its sold-out performance at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27.

The cleverly-titled "Real Housewives of the Milton Theatre" stage production will take place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28 ($20). (It is a drag tribute to the reality television ladies of Bravo.)

Last but not least, the Andrew Lloyd Webber Cabaret will feature local singers and musicians tackling songs from "Evita," the "Phantom of the Opera" and more at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 29 (with a smattering of tickets still available at $22).
