Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine reversed course on Thursday and called for a nuclear bailout energy law to be repealed in the wake of a $60 million bribery scandal involving the speaker of the Ohio House. (July 23)
MIKE DEWINE: The process by which this bill was passed is simply not acceptable. That process I believe has forever tainted the bill, and now the law itself. This policy, while the policy in my opinion is good, the process by which it was created stinks. It's terrible. It's not acceptable.
This whole policy issue must be revisited by the General Assembly. I ask the legislature to repeal and replace House Bill Six through a process, an open process that the public can have full confidence in. The public's trust has to have been monumentally shaken by the revelations about speaker Householder. That is not good for this state.
