Diakon Living & Learning to host senior expo at Fairlane Village mall near Pottsville

Oct. 8—Diakon Living & Learning After 50 will hold its 13th senior expo geared to older adults interested in staying active, productive and healthy.

The event, free and open to the public, will be held in Fairlane Village mall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 17.

"Diakon Living & Learning After 50 continues to respond to the needs of the area's mature adults through our range of programs but also by hosting this unique expo designed for older adults," Susan Long, who oversees the program for Diakon Community Services, said in a news release.

"The expo represents a great opportunity to connect with local organizations and businesses, receive cutting-edge information on a range of products and services, and have a lot of fun," she said. "The event is designed for all adults ranging from 50-plus 'Boomers' to centenarians and their families."

In addition to exhibitors, there will be flu shots administered by Lehigh Valley Physician Group; glucose screening by HNL Lab Medicine; and balance testing by Lehigh Valley Health Network Rehab Center Schuylkill.

Lunch will be available to those who register by calling 570-624-3010. Boscov's Travel also will share safe travel tips and information about the Diakon Living & Learning October 2024 Cruise to Bermuda.

Visitors will be able to dispose of unused prescription drugs as well as learn gardening tricks from Penn State Master Gardeners.

The day's schedule includes:

—10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Medicare Part D comparisons, prescription drug drop-off/drug take back, flu vaccination clinic, glucose screening, balance testing.

—10:15 a.m.: Progressive relaxation

—10:30 a.m.: Exercise with the Age Busters

—11 a.m.: Zumba Gold

—11 a.m.: Bingo

—11:30 a.m.: Seated yoga / functional fitness

—11:30 a.m.: Diamond art demonstration

—Noon: Lunch with reservation

—1 p.m.: Entertainment by Tom Drogalis

—1 p.m.: Cooking with Jennifer

—1:50 p.m.: Door prizes
