'The Diary Of Anne Frank' Comes To Arvada Center Black Box

ARVADA, CO – Arvada Center's Black Box Repertory Theater opens their 2019 season with 'The Diary of Anne Frank," starting Feb. 1.

Based on Wendy Kesselman’s adaptation, the play shows "the full Anne; imperfect, funny, longing to become a woman and hopeful for a future she will never see," the theater's promotional material said.

“In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart,” wrote Frank in her diary as she hid for two years with her family in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam. Frank and her family were discovered in 1944, and Frank died of typhus in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945.

The adaptation is based on a 1955 screen play written by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett.

Directed by Christy Montour-Larson, the cast features the Black Box theater's repertory players: Darrow Klein (Anne Frank), Larry Cahn (Otto Frank), Emily Paton Davies (Edith Frank), Annie Barbour (Margot Frank), Regina Fernandez (Miep Gies), Daniel Crumrine (Peter van Daan), Lance Rasmussen (Mr. Kraler), Emma Messenger (Mrs. van Daan), Abner Genece (Mr. van Daan), and Zachary Andrews (Mr. Dussel).

The show is underwritten by The Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation and Dr. and Mrs. Richard A. Patt.

Performances begin Feb. 1. Previews on Jan. 31 and 31 are sold out.
