Dick Vitale joins Texas basketball fans in celebrating Rodney Terry's hiring as Longhorns' head coach

Texas men's basketball coach Rodney Terry is only a week or two away from starting fall practice ahead of the 2023-24 season. "Last year we had arguably the best conference in the country," he said last week. "I don't expect that to change."

It's official. After coaching Texas to the Elite Eight as interim head coach, Rodney Terry has been hired as head coach of the program.

The move comes as Longhorn fans wondered about a delay in promoting Terry as he guided the team on their deepest NCAA Tournament run since 2008.

Terry has reportedly signed a five-year contract with the Longhorns worth $15.3 million. Longtime college basketball personality Dick Vitale said Terry's hiring "brings joy to my heart."
