Dickinson High hosts Jack Carlson Invitational, girls take second and boys third

May 3—DICKINSON — Dickinson High School's girls team tied for second in the Jack Carlson Invitational on Tuesday at the Biesiot Activities Center, while the boys finished in third overall. But it was senior sprinter and pole-vaulter extraordinaire Emily Ash who stole the show, with not only a pair of first-place finishes — one of which qualified her for the state meet in the 100m dash — but broke her own school record in the process (the video below is at a lower measurement).

Ash hit 11'6" in the pole-vault, which eclipsed her previous personal-best and school record of 11'3", and raced to a state-qualifying 12.52 second in the 100. It wasn't the only top-shelf performance for the Midgets on the girls' side by a long shot, as numerous other competitors came in with top-places in the home meet.

Atkins also dropped the top-time in the 200m dash with a first-place 27.19 and her teammate Kamora Phillips was close-behind with a third-place 27.95.
