Dickinson track & field teams place mid-table at Regional Meet
May 20—BISMARCK — The Dickinson Midgets already have numerous competitors lined up for the State Track and Field Meet next week. But during the West Regional Meet at Bismarck State University on Friday, the teams finished in a mid-table position with the girls coming in fifth at 75.5 points and the boys winding up with 33 points and seventh overall. Bismarck won the girls meet going-away with 133 points and Century was the resounding winner for the boys at 172.
Individual competitors for DHS who placed in the meet included Emily Ash and Jazmin Barry, who finished a bang-bang second- and third place with 12.77 and 12.8 in the 100 m dash, and Barry winning the 200m dash with a 25.35 while Ash placed fourth in that event with a 26.09.
Blake Weller was sixth in the 400m dash with a 51.51, while Cecilia Homiston came in with a 1:01.97 and seventh-place in the event for the girls.
Barry also had a solid performance in the 300m hurdles with a second-place 46.38 and Cole Skabo finished with a 16.14 in the 110m high-hurdles, which was good enough for eighth.
The DHS girls ended up in seventh in the 4x100m relay with the team of Jayden Atkins, Maycee Moe, Xeia Schneider and Kamora Phillips coming in at 51.28, while the boys saw Christian Bowden, Kaiden Richter, Benett Carlson and Brener Conrad come in sixth with a 44.49.
The Midgets 4x200m relay team of Atkins, Lexi Bradley, Jersi Luchi and Phillips placed at sixth with a 1:50.29 and the boys combination of Bowden, Richter, Conrad and Braden Meschke took third in the event with a 1:31.04.
In the 4x400m relay, Dickinson's team of Blake Weller, Duncan Blauer, Thomas Freer and Meschke turned in a fifth-place 3:32.6 while the girls placed eighth with a 4:19.05 through the efforts of Arabella Privratsky, Jenna Nelson, Sadie Stevenson and Homiston.
The 4x800m relay team of Privratsky, Laila Gregoire, Abby Praus and Hannah Geisel were sixth with a 10:25.56 while the boys placed 10th.
In the field events, DHS's Jecelyn Arends had a third-place mark of 37'5" and Ethan Halverson placed eighth with a 141'11" throw in the discus, while Jenna Nelson was tied for fifth in the high-jump at 4'11 and Emily Ash won the pole-vault with a mark of 11-feet even. The boys pole-vault competition saw Midget teammates Bennett Carlson and Blake Homiston finish tied for second with 13'6" leaps and Kendra King had an outstanding second-place finish in the triple-jump with a 35'7" mark and Madox Tolman placed eighth for the boys at 40'8".
