WORCESTER — It's game over for Dick’s Sporting Goods at Lincoln Plaza. The outlet will be closing for good after 20 years.

The store will sell the last of its gear Saturday.

The store is one of four in the region, with others in Millbury, Northborough and Leominster.

The others are not closing.

When it opened in August 2002, the Worcester store on Lincoln Street was the second Dick’s Sporting Goods in the state, employing more than 100 people.

Dick’s becomes the latest business in the plaza to close, at one point being retail neighbors of Barnes & Noble and Staples.

Dick's was a popular destination for sports fans eager to celebrate a fresh championship. Hours after World Series victories by the Red Sox and Super Bowls won by the Patriots, the store had sports fans lining up outside its glass doors, eager to purchase freshly minted commemorative clothing.

A call to the Pennsylvania headquarters of Dick's Sporting Goods was not immediately returned.
