Dickson County High School will move to a virtual learning environment on Friday and Monday due to staffing shortages, according to Schools Director Dr. Danny Weeks.

Principal Joey Holley worked with Secondary Education Director Dr. Robbie Faulkner to collect and evaluate data before submitting that information to the state, Week said.

“They have met the rigorous expectations of the State Department of Education as we have applied and received a waiver to transition to Virtual Learning on Friday, Jan. 28 and Monday, Jan. 31,” said Weeks in an email.

“Staff have uploaded assignments and will report to the building as usual, and will report to the building to provide virtual instruction,” Weeks said. “Students who complete and submit assignments will be counted present according to our virtual learning guidelines.”

The campus is closed to students and all student activity.

Between Jan. 9 and Jan. 22, the county averaged nearly 118 new COVID-19 cases per day as compared to averaging 67 per day from Dec. 26 to Jan. 8, according to the state health department.

For more information, people are asked to contact Holley at the school Friday at (615) 446-9003 or contact Weeks at the central office at (615) 446-7571.
