Did critic get banned for throwing chicken feed at Beaufort Co. School Board? Here’s the decision

The Beaufort County School Board won’t ban outspoken critic David Cook from public comment after he threw bags of chicken feed at members.

Instead, they’re sending Cook a letter directing him to not violate public comment rules by “taking physically aggressive actions” again. The decision comes as they considered barring him from public comment and even drafted the letter they would use to do so.

When asked why they didn’t ban Cook board member Chloe Gordon said they wanted to review all their options first, and board members are unsure if there will be any further action.

The Beaufort County school board implemented new safety and security measures for meetings, starting July 11.

“The issue isn’t over. I think that we’re going to revise our policy and I don’t know that there’s any going to be any further action,” Vice-Chair Richard Geier said. “We have to have rules and they have to be followed.”
