Did you feel it? 4.1-magnitude earthquake hits near Kettleman City in central California

An earthquake that registered a magnitude of 4.1 rocked Kettleman City on Monday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake struck about 4:10 p.m. with a registered depth of about 5 miles about 3 miles south-southwest of the city. There were no initial reports of damages.

Sgt. Nate Ferrier, of the Kings County Sheriff’s Office, said he was not aware of any reports of damages.

Diana Miranda, an employee at the Chevron gas station located at Highway 41 and Interstate 5, described the quake as a “little shake,” and said nothing was knocked off shelves in the station’s mini-mart.

“It was not anything major,” she added.

An employee at the nearby Union 76 station, who declined to provide her name, said she felt “two big rattles.”

“It was pretty hard,” she added.

“Of course,” she said. “Customers too!”
