The lengths to which the Game of Thrones team will go to to avoid spoilers being divulged have reached new heights.

Winter Is Coming has reminded everyone that last year, Kit Harington and Lena Headey were seen in Dubrovnik, Croatia filming scenes where Jon and Cersei appeared to meet.

At the time, pictures ended up all over Reddit, along with the usual fan speculation about what it could all mean.

But now that we know Jon and Cersei didn't meet during season 8 – and the queen died in her brother/lover Jaime's arms in the 'The Bells' without ever catching sight of Jon – we can only assume that they were fake scenes, filmed with a strategic intention of throwing us all off the scent.

Sure, the show may have seen its share of spoiler-related issues, but we can't help but respect them a tiny bit for going to these lengths.

Then again, perhaps these scenes, if they ever see the light of day, will eventually be used to create an alternative end to the Game of Thrones story – at least, that's what a lot of fans seem to be angling for.

A Change.org petition has called on HBO to re-do the entire final season, and has nearly reached its target of 15,000 signatures at the time of writing.

"This series deserves a final season that makes sense," the petition creator wrote. "Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"
