You'd be forgiven for missing it, but the Louisville Redbirds were once featured in an episode of "The Office."

The minor league baseball team, which has since been rebranded as the Louisville Bats, wasn't a key player in the episode. In fact, the Redbirds were only shown on screen for a brief moment, as Jim Halpert sat in a lobby watching a baseball game on TV. But the team's appearance on the show came into the spotlight this week as part of a viral video at the center of an article from The Athletic.

TikTok user @noproblemgamer has built a following through his deep-dive videos where he identifies the source of sports games that characters in TV shows and movies are shown watching. In his latest viral video, published Wednesday, the account describes how the user identified footage used in a 2008 episode of "The Office" as taken during a 1992 game between the Redbirds and the Buffalo Bisons.

The TikTok user is actually 25-year-old Ian Araujo from Manitoba, Canada, according to The Athletic, which provided an in-depth look at how he works. It began a few years ago as a hobby, according to the article, but Araujo's work has gone viral in recent months as he's showcased his peculiar talent on social media.

The Redbirds video is "maybe the biggest rabbit hole I’ve gone down so far," he noted in the video, and he was assisted in this case by The Athletic's Stephen J. Nesbitt.

So, how did they do it? The methodology behind the 2-minute, 57-second video is impressive — it's all in the details.

In the episode, a score box on the screen Halpert is watching uses logos from Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers, but Araujo found the uniforms the teams were wearing didn't match up with those MLB squads. After an exhaustive review of minor league team uniforms, he noticed a hat one player in the footage is wearing matched a Redbirds hat the team used between 1989 and 1992.

The search didn't end there, though. The Redbirds were wearing gray in the footage, which Araujo said indicates the game was not played at their home stadium in Louisville. The red seats in the footage appeared to have been filmed at the stadium in Buffalo, he said, and he was able to figure out the game's date – June 2, 1992 – by matching up players shown on screen with Redbirds box scores that had run at the time in The Courier Journal.

Are you impressed? Somebody is – as of Thursday afternoon, the video had racked up more than 2 million views, catching the eye of several social media users in Louisville.
